One of Life's Questions

I often find myself wondering, "Am I insane, or is everyone else, the ones that society calls 'normal', the insane ones?"

By my beliefs, being normal is overrated. Why be like everyone else, a face in the crowd, just another John or Jane Doe?

Natural selection teaches that the ones that adapt best to the enviroment survive. Is this true? Has mankind really stooped so low as to shun strangers? Not so long ago it was considered rude to turn away a hungry/thristy/homeless man. Now it's considered normal. That homeless man you passed on the way home that asked for food, what did you give him? Why or why not?

That sounds like an exam question. I guess it is, but you don't have to answer it. Just keep ignoring the outsider, stranger, foreigner. Society is xenophobic (get a dictionary). We can't help it.

Why?
